The short version
- Vessa is a skincare app, not a doctor, and its AI can be wrong.
- Subscriptions are billed and cancelled through Apple, not through us.
- Your photos stay yours; we use them only to run the app for you, and only send them to the AI provider with your permission.
- Be decent, don't abuse the service, and delete your account whenever you like.
1. The agreement
These terms are between you and Vessa, and they apply when you download, open or use the Vessa app or this website. Using the app means you accept them. If you do not, the app is not for you — delete it, and email support@vessa.care if you would like your account removed.
2. What Vessa is — and is not
Vessa analyses photographs of your skin, produces scores and an AI portrait, identifies products you scan, generates skincare routines from products you own and answers questions in chat, using AI models provided by OpenAI. It is a consumer skincare app.
It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, a diagnosis or treatment. Scores are estimates from a photograph, not clinical measurements. Nothing in the app substitutes for a dermatologist or doctor — see one for anything painful, spreading, bleeding, or changing quickly, and for any mole or lesion you are unsure about.
Routines avoid combinations known to irritate and respect the pregnancy, sensitivity and prescription answers you give, but you are responsible for what you put on your skin. Patch-test new products, read their labels, and stop using anything that causes a reaction.
3. Your account
- You need an account, created with an email address or Sign in with Apple, and you must be at least 13 — or older, where your country sets a higher age for consenting to online services.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person per account. Scores and routines are built from one person's skin and mean nothing if two people share a login.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time. It takes effect immediately and removes your data as described in the privacy policy.
4. Subscriptions and payment
Vessa's features require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are sold and charged by Apple through your App Store account, not by Vessa — we never see your payment details.
- The price, billing period and what is included are shown in the app before you buy.
- If a free trial is offered, its length is shown before you start it. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription and the price is charged to your Apple account. If notifications are on, the app reminds you before the trial ends.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends; your Apple account is charged within 24 hours before the end of the period.
- Cancel or change a subscription in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your Vessa account does not cancel it. After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy. Vessa cannot issue them, but email us if something has gone wrong and we will help where we can.
5. Your photos and content
Your photos and what you write stay yours. To run the service you give Vessa permission to store them and, once you allow AI processing in the app, to send them to the AI provider named in the privacy policy (OpenAI) so they can be analysed and answered. That permission exists only to operate the app for you: your face photos, portraits and chats are not published, shown to other users, sold, or used to train general-purpose AI models.
One exception, for products only: when you scan a product that is not in Vessa's catalog yet, you allow Vessa to add the product's details — and possibly your photo of the product as its picture — to the shared catalog, where other users can see them. Nothing there says who scanned it, and it can stay in the catalog after you delete your account. Email support@vessa.care if you would like a product photo of yours removed.
Upload only photos you are entitled to upload — your own face, and products you have. Without AI processing switched on in Settings → AI Features, scans, routines and chat do not work.
6. Fair use of the app
- Do not use Vessa to harass anyone, upload other people's photos without their permission, or upload anything illegal.
- Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or to work around usage limits (the app has daily limits on AI requests to keep the service fair).
- Do not resell access, or present Vessa's output as a medical opinion or as your own professional advice.
- Accounts that do these things can be suspended or removed.
7. What AI output is worth
Vessa's scores, portraits, product details, routines and chat answers are generated by AI models. They can be wrong, inconsistent between scans, or confidently mistaken, and lighting, camera angle and makeup all move the numbers. Treat them as a structured second opinion to reason with, not as fact. Vessa gives no guarantee of any particular result for your skin.
8. Availability and changes
The app is provided as it is, and may change: features can be added, altered or withdrawn, and service can be interrupted for maintenance or by a provider's outage. If a change is significant and affects a paid feature, you will be told inside the app. Vessa may also update these terms; the date at the top changes when it does.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Vessa is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for the results of following advice generated in the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here removes rights you have that cannot be removed — including consumer protections, and liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Law and disputes
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can bring proceedings in your local courts. Please email support@vessa.care first — most problems are quicker to fix than to argue about.
